What I've seen throughout my career developing leaders is that the frustration comes from trying to manage people.  It is possible to manage people, but the truth is that most people don't like being managed.

It's ok to manage thingslike tasks, projects, expectations, work loads, functions, etc., but human beings are not things to be managed.  Things are relatively easy to manage, because they don't have thoughts and feelings.  People, on the other hand, are creative and resourceful.  They have wants and needs and can be emotional and unpredictable.  This is not a problem, it's what makes humanity capable of so much creativity!  The problems arise when you try to control people.  Hence the solution...

My first job out of school was developing leaders at an iconic Silicon Valley company. I spent the next 18 years developing leaders within organizations across a wide range of industries. I worked primarily in Leadership Development roles, as well as senior HR business partner roles, which is where I discovered the power of executive coaching. In 2012, I made the life-changing decision to start my own business as an Executive Leadership Coach and I’ve been developing leaders in this way ever since.

I’m hired by organizations who understand that leaders are developed primarily through experience and that learning from experience is accelerated through coaching. I combine my coaching approach with my philosophy of leadership, which emerged for me after nearly 30 years of seeing how leaders actually grow and develop. This guide reflects a significant portion of my philosophy.
